Husband and I went there for lunch today and their food was absolutely delicious! We both got the fried catfish and it is seasoned perfectly. I got macaroni and cheese and macaroni salad and were the best I've ever had. My husband got fries and coleslaw and said they were both delicious! I would recommend anyone to give this place a try. We will definitely be back.

If there was ever a place you could taste the love in the food, THIS IS IT! I mean it’s as close to home cooked as home cooked can get. Great environment, wonderful service and amazing food. They ain’t got 5 across the board for no reason. Mama Sarah thank you so much for making us feel so welcomed ! This is definitely our new go to spot when we’re in Rocky Mount!!!

Don't let the empty parking lot fool you. The good stuff is inside. Great meals with awesome portions and excellent prices! The staff are amazing as well. Highly recommend this place.

The best food I’ve had since I’ve been in South VA! I’m an Alabama native and the food reminds me of home. The server was so sweet and friendly and gave great recommendations. The 35 minute drive is definitely worth it!

Best fried fish I've had in years and up there with the best I've ever had! Eating the food here felt like I was coming home after being away for a very long time! Got the whiting dinner hushpuppies, greens, and mac salad (all fantastic). Also got a Big Smoke (not pictured) which was a big bit of food by itself! Definitely coming back!

I got the fried catfish with potato salad, mac and cheese, banana pudding, and a sweet tea. Everything was incredible and the lady at the front was so sweet and attentive. Will definitely be coming back!!!

The food at Mama Sarah's is outstanding. I ordered two meals to go, one catfish dinner and a 6 oz chopped steak lunch size. Both came with 2 sides. The mains were good, but to me, the sides were the standout! I truly enjoyed the sweet baked beans and cheese heavy mac n cheese. They both go so well together, and I highly recommend both dishes. The green beans I tasted were nicely seasoned. The fries were tender on the inside and a little crisp on the outside, even after being in a to go container. There were 3 hot sauce packets in the bag, but no ketsup. The chopped steak was good, but the gravy had all the flavor. I wanted to love the catfish, but the breading was spicy, and I couldn't handle spicy foods. The fish was so tender without the breading, so I stilled enjoyed it, but I wish I had known about spices prior to ordering. Someone who loves hot spice would probably think this breading was mild. It's just not for me, no fault of the dish! The surprise hushpuppies were a little sweet and not dry! Signs at the entrance and in the dining room informed diners that credit cards were being phased out. The atmosphere is homey and comfortable, and the staff were friendly, efficient, and busy! Will definitely return, but I will inquire about the use of spice prior to ordering. The flavoring of the food is the standout here, as all dishes were tasty, fresh, and flavorful. I now have a new place to enjoy good food in Rocky Mount!

While traveling from Atlanta to Roanoke, me and my Jeep group stopped here to eat. As we walked through the door, they greet us like family. Servers were very attentive, and went through the menu with us. We ended up going with the catfish meal. Arguably top 3 in catfish that I’ve EVER eaten! After the 2nd bite of the macaroni and cheese...we all immediately asked for an additional container to go, lol. Again, top 3 in theeeee best mac&cheese I’ve EVER eaten!! The catfish and fries were cooked to perfection! We were told that these recipes have been passed down through generations. The comfortable atmosphere, food, service (even the chef came out 2x to check on us) and learning the history of Mama Sarah’s cooking...this place is amazing!
